What we did
On the fireplace wall we replaced the old surround with large-format tile, removed the old mantel, installed a floating wood mantel and mounted the TV; a tile specialist handled the tile and grout. On the second wall we added classic decorative molding and a picture light, and we painted the room, ceiling included.
